iPad app store

If you’re an developer who has been hard at work on getting an app ready in time for the lainch of the , now is the time to start polishing it up if you want Apple to consider it for inclusion for the grand opening of the iPad section of the App Store. Basically, just log in to iTunes Connect, submit your app, and you’ll receive feedback on its readiness for the grand opening. We know, it’s difficult to fully debug an app when you don’t even have the actual hardware that you are developing for, so our guess is that Apple is running submitted code on actual iPads, and if things work nicely and the app is up to snuff, you’ll be in. You’ve got until 5:00 PM PDT on March 27th to submit your apps.

Oh, and in case there was any doubt, yes; the iPad App Store will open the same day that the iPad goes on sale. April 3rd can’t come fast enough.

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Google, Rumors, Videos,

Those are some strong words, but if CNBC journalists and analysts are to be believed, the relationship between and is so strained as they both compete to win in the mobile space that it has come to a point where “Steve Jobs simply hates Eric Schmidt.” Hey, if that hared fuels the fire of innovation and competition, then it’s the consumers who will walk away the winners in this battle. Amiright?

Confirmed: Apple Tablet runs iPhone OS says McGraw-Hill CEO

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Apple, Handhelds, Rumors,

Okay, we all know by now that is going to be announcing their tablet at tomorrow’s January 27th Apple event, but the CEO of McGraw-Hill, Terry McGraw, just kinda spilled the beans on CNBC:

“Yeah, Very exciting. Yes, they’ll make their announcement tomorrow on this one. We have worked with Apple for quite a while. And the Tablet is going to be based on the iPhone operating system and so it will be transferable. So what you are going to be able to do now is we have a consortium of e-books. And we have 95% of all our materials that are in e-book format on that one. So now with the tablet you’re going to open up the higher education market, the professional market. The tablet is going to be just really terrific.”

Is true, that means no tablet, to those who were hoping for that. Thoughts?

iPhone OS 4.0 to arrive 1/27 with new interface, multitasking?

iPhone OS 4.0

Our pals over at Boy Genius Report are saying they’ve received some inside information about the iPhone OS 4.0, which is heavily rumored to debut, and possibly even be released, at the Apple event on January 27th. Here’s what they are saying about iPhone OS 4.0:

  • There will be multi-touch gestures OS-wide. (Would make sense for that as the rumored OS for the iTablet is close if not the same as the iPhone)
  • “A few new ways” to run applications in the background—multitasking.
  • Many graphical and UI changes to make navigating through the OS easier and more efficient. We haven’t had this broken down, but we can only hope for improved notifications, a refreshed homescreen, etc.
  • The update will supposedly be available for only the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but will “put them ahead in the smartphone market because it will make them more like full-fledged computers” more than any other phone to date. Everyone is “really excited.”
  • The last piece of information is the most vague, but apparently there will be some brand new syncing ability for the contacts and calendar applications.

As far as we’re concerned, we think that a graphical and UI interface refresh is definitely needed for the iPhone, which hasn’t really seen any major interface changes since it launched. Of course, we will be bringing you all the new on January 27th as it happens.
